Who Are We?
The Friends of Fort Taylor is a volunteer, non-profit, citizen support organization created and dedicated to generate public awareness and financial support for the preservation and maintenance of Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park. Our role is one of advocacy for the historical, educational and ecological enhancement of the Park, a National Historic Landmark.
We work with the State of Florida to preserve and interpret Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Parks resources. Foremost is Fort Taylor a National Historic Landmark. The Friends of Fort Taylor is comprised of people just like you who have an interest in the park. The Friends also financially assist Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park by funding park projects that may not have been budgeted.
What We Do
The Friends conduct programs and activities, sponsor research, sponsor promotions, raise funds, request and receive grants, gifts and contributions, dues and bequests of money....and make expenditures and distributions to or for the benefit of Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park.
Our Mission
To protect, preserve and interpret the history of Fort Taylor, a National Historic Landmark, through collaborative efforts of the Florida Park Service, The Friends of Fort Taylor, Battery B and the community of Key West, ensuring this National Historic Landmark is here for generations to come. Plus, we develop members, promote the use, preservation and enhancement of the State Park thru public awareness projects, special events, tours , market research and joint partnerships with non-profit and profit organizations. The Friends also sponsor the publication and sale of literature and educational and promotional material on Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park. 
We also sponsor research and data gathering projects to support the resource and recreation management needs... provide a vehicle for grant funding and special projects... provide support and recognition programs for the volunteers, receive and hold donations of lands, leases and easements at Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park.
